Important mining project in Peru

In August 2019 we started developing the Scada system for the control of the power equipment of a large mining company, contributing to its objective of “Be the first digital miner in the world.” We formed a work team with engineers from Chile and Peru, with whom we developed the software to carry out preliminary tests in Santiago and train the client in an virtual. Once the engineering has been developed to build the communications equipment boards for the Scada System, we carry out preliminary tests in Lima, Arequipa and at the client’s plant. We also generated a series of additional products that allowed the integration of the new system, satellite links, the connection with facilities for shipping concentrate and with the high mountain energy supplier.< /span>
This company specialized in storage and distribution of raw materials and fuels, had the need to efficiently control its production processes and, in addition, it needed to detect and normalize the causes of the failures of some of its equipment.  To achieve this, we set out to migrate their systems towards high-standard engineering and technology. To that end, we develop plans, procedures and protocols to make improvements to the operation.  After specialized training in the use of Rockwell technology, the PEM Tunning teams worked side by side with the client’s engineers, resulting in greater plant reliability.

World class mining

In 2021 we began the development of the control system for this project that allowed us to increase the capacity of its waste dump. The main challenge was to generate interoperability tests in our dependencies, which we executed in coordination with other suppliers linked to this initiative. We needed to test the project control system in Santiago before execution or implementation in the plant, to detect possible incompatibilities, gaps or inconsistencies early. This would allow significant savings in fees, travel, specialists and others. We constitute a work team with the different specialized areas of Tunning including platform, programming and commissioning professionals to develop software, purchase hardware, generate documents and coordinate everything in general . We carried out pre-training before executing the services in the plant and, finally, the tests generated enormous value for the client and great learning for us , allowing us to standardize the experience through procedures and protocols.

Leading manufacturer of mesh fabrication

The manager of the company, a plant with more than 80 years of experience, needed to get the most out of its production. To support them, our challenge was to obtain information on the operation of the machines that make mesh bags and raschel mesh. The idea was to analyze the information and propose improvements to its performance.

There are companies that have the technology to solve this challenge. However, the price of the technical solution had to be commensurate with the size of the industry we were working with. We solved it by looking for “outside the box” solutions. Thus, we imported equipment in China that our professionals learned to program. Then, we look for clouds to store the information and analyze the data with power BI.

In this way, the client was able to know which were their best machines, their production downtimes and other strategic factors to solve their efficiency challenge.

This experience opened up enormous opportunities for us to work with smaller industries, whom we are proud to support in their development.

The contribution of control systems to sustainability in mining

How does Tunning take care of the sustainability of its operations?
