They aim to establish regional technical HUBs and work to strengthen their Smart Grids division in Chile and Peru, while continuing to be part of the most important mining initiatives in both countries.
Engineer Claudio Jara founded Tunning Ingeniería in 1994. On July 24, the company proudly celebrated its 31st anniversary, not only for having successfully weathered a financial crisis that affected it before the end of its first decade, but also for having achieved a successful expansion into Peru, as well as being at the forefront of new technologies in its market.
For more than three decades, Tuning Electric has been a supplier of electrical rooms, power panels, and control systems alongside its partners Rockwell, Siemens, and Schneider. In each of these areas, it has become an important player in the market.
One of the initiatives that stands out in its history is the process control system for the Full Sal project of Minera Escondida in the Antofagasta region of Chile. Despite the fact that work began during the complex Covid-19 pandemic period, and that it was a large and complex project, it was successfully completed.
The electrical SCADA system they implemented very successfully for Anglo American’s Quellaveco project in Moquegua, Peru, also began in the midst of the pandemic, with all the supply chain problems and restrictions on movement that made it difficult.
Ideas for the future
Having demonstrated its capabilities and resilience, Tuning Ingeniería continues to focus on growth. In Chile, it hopes to boost support for the operation and maintenance of mining sites.
“In this area, we want to contribute by placing greater emphasis on artificial intelligence, simulation, and digital twin technologies. As a key element, we are looking to establish regional technical HUBs that will allow us to get closer to customers in their daily operations,” explains Claudio Jara.
At the same time, they are looking to expand their operations in Peru as a local company. “We have already participated in key mining projects in Peru, working with EPCM companies such as Fluor. Today, we want to give Tunning Peru a continuous presence in the day-to-day ecosystem, not just be part of large projects,” adds the founder of Tunning.
And to become the leading technology integrator in electrical SCADA, protection, and substation control in Chile and Peru, they are working to strengthen their Smart Grids area, as the need for services in this area is increasing, hand in hand with technological change and the increasing complexity of electrical systems.
