Comprehensive health care to protect Tunning workers

On World Day for Safety and Health at Work, Tunning electric is redoubling its efforts to protect the well-being of everyone in its company, drawing on more than 30 years of operational experience in mining.

Since 2003, the International Labor Organization (ILO) has celebrated World Day for Safety and Health at Work to promote the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases worldwide.

In mining, an industry where safety is key, regulatory compliance is essential to protect the health and well-being of workers, so labor assessments are very strict. Chile, a mining country par excellence, has legislation that requires companies to ensure safe and healthy work environments.

In this context, the implementation of preventive measures is decisive. Hence the concern for the integral wellbeing of workers, through the monitoring of factors that may influence their physical capacity and probability of developing diseases.

In this context, the company’s risk preventionist, Mariano Lara, points out that they promote direct awareness campaigns with those who have had problems in their examinations or difficulties in the field.

However, the idea is to extend this awareness-raising program to the whole company, “we are going to raise awareness, train and encourage everyone to reflect on the subject, considering that the promotion of integral wellbeing can benefit not only those who work in the field, but also those who work in the office”, says the preventionist.

Tunning’s commitment is for the issue to transcend from field personnel to the administrative, engineering, programming and human resources areas, as well as to the commercial and finance sections. In this way, they are analyzing the lessons learned in their thirty years of operation in mining to motivate their work community.
